Sigiriya

Sigiriya, also known as the Lion Rock, is one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic historical landmarks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located in the central part of the island, this ancient rock fortress rises nearly 200 meters above the surrounding plains. Built in the 5th century by King Kashyapa, Sigiriya served as a royal palace and stronghold. The site is famous for its impressive frescoes, the Mirror Wall, beautifully designed water gardens, and the massive lion-shaped gateway that once guarded the entrance. Today, Sigiriya attracts visitors from around the world who come to explore its rich history, stunning architecture, and breathtaking panoramic views.
