Delft Island

Delft Island, locally known as Neduntheevu, is a unique and serene island located off the coast of Jaffna in northern Sri Lanka. Known for its untouched landscapes and colonial history, the island features wild ponies believed to be descendants of horses brought by the Portuguese. Delft is home to fascinating landmarks such as the ancient Baobab tree, Queen’s Tower, and ruins from Portuguese and Dutch settlements. The island’s coral stone walls, open grasslands, and quiet beaches create a distinctive atmosphere unlike anywhere else in Sri Lanka. Peaceful and less commercialized, Delft Island offers visitors a glimpse into history, nature, and rural island life.
